Compassion fatigue–the physical and mental exhaustion and detachment experienced by those who care—is one of the most pervasive and least discussed traumas that nearly every care professional feels at one time or another.
This session will draw on the advice and stories in the book RELIT: How to Rekindle Yourself in the Darkness of Compassion Fatigue, and will lead attendees in exercises to create their own self-management habits to empower them to be more present and effective for their clients.
Learn how to recognize and reduce compassion fatigue using expert-driven strategies delivered in a dynamic mix of discussion, demonstration, and practice.
- Understand the Nature and Impact of Compassion Fatigue:
Participants will learn the causes, symptoms, and effects of compassion fatigue and how coaches are especially susceptible to it. - Develop Practical Strategies for Prevention and Recovery:
Participants will engage in self-regulation exercises and explore diverse coping strategies to build resilience, prevent burnout, and promote sustained well-being. - Apply Compassion Fatigue Insights to Coaching Practices:
Participants will learn to integrate self-care strategies and compassionate boundary-setting techniques into their coaching approach, ensuring they can support clients effectively while maintaining their own well-being.
