Conflict Resolution for Executive Coaches Session 1, The Conflict Landscape
Conflict Resolution for Executive Coaches
Session 1, The Conflict Landscape
Facilitated by Aoife Holden, PCC and Danny Lis
These are three 90-minute sessions of interactive training for coaches who want to expand their capacity to support clients navigating conflict. This program bridges ICF core coaching competencies with practical frameworks drawn from facilitation and mediation, providing a structured, ICF-aligned approach to one of the most complex and frequently encountered challenges in executive coaching.
The series addresses three interconnected areas.
Session 1
September 10: The Conflict Landscape: Introduces the spectrum of conflict— from early tension to entrenched disputes and builds coaches’ ability to recognize where a client sits within that spectrum. Foundational frameworks including the Drama Triangle and conflict style models (TKI) deepen awareness of how conflict develops and escalates.
Session 2 will be held October 1
Conflict Patterns and Coaching Interventions, focuses on recognizing and shifting conflict dynamics within the coaching conversation itself. Participants learn to identify patterns such as reactivity, triangulation, and develop coaching responses that expand client perspective and reduce escalation.
Session 3 will be held November 12
Preparing Clients for Difficult Conversations, equips coaches to partner with clients in preparing for high-stakes conversations, clarifying intention, anticipating triggers, considering other perspectives, and defining whatsuccess looks like beyond winning.
Alignment with ICF Core Competencies is intentional throughout. The program directly addresses Evokes Awareness, Maintains Presence, Listens Actively, Facilitates Client Growth, and Establishes and Maintains Agreements. Participants strengthen their ability to work within the coaching role expanding client awareness and supporting intentional action without crossing into mediating, or directing outcomes.
Each session includes case-based exercises, small group practice, and peer exchange to ensure concepts translate directly to real coaching conversations. The program is appropriate for ICF-credentialed coaches at all levels who work with leaders, teams, or individuals navigating interpersonal or organizational conflict.
1.0 Core Competency + 0.5 Resource Development CCE credits for each session
